Call to Worship
Hosannah!  Hosannah to the Son of David!

Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!

Hosanna in the highest!

—Matthew 21:9, Luke 19:38, John 12:13  (NIV, 1984)

Prayer of Confession
Loving Father and Mighty God,
you have ‘blessed us in Christ
With every spiritual blessing.’
Yet we constantly rebel and disobey.
We sin by our actions and desires.
Be merciful to us, and forgive.
Create in us, clean hearts.
Renew a steadfast spirit within us.
Enable us to drink deeply
from the fountain of your grace.
That we may be a wellspring
Of compassion and hope
In this thirsty and broken world.
Through Jesus. Amen.

10,000 Reasons
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

The sun comes up it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne,
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou hast died for me;
Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity.

Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Matthew Bridges, 1851. Tune, DIADEMATA, George J. Elvey, 1868 CCLI 241710

Confession of Faith
We believe that God, who is perfectly merciful and just,
sent his Son to assume that nature,
in which the disobedience was committed,
to make satisfaction in the same,
and to bear the punishment of sin
by his most bitter passion and death.
God therefore manifested his justice against his Son,
when he laid our iniquities upon him;
and poured forth his mercy and goodness on us,
who were guilty and worthy of damnation,
out of mere and perfect love, giving his Son unto death for us,
and raising him for our justification,
that through him we might obtain immortality and life eternal.

Better Is One Day
How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty
For my soul longs and even faints for you
For here my heart is satisfied within your presence
I sing beneath the shadow of your wings

Better is one day in your courts, better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts, than thousands elsewhere
Than thousands elsewhere

One thing I ask and I would seek – to see your beauty
To find you in the place your glory dwells

Better is one day in your courts, better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts, than thousands elsewhere (repeat)

My heart and flesh cry out for you the living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen come once again to me
I will draw near to you, I will draw near to You

Better is one day, better is one day
Better is one day than thousands elsewhere (repeat)

Better is one day in your courts, better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts, than thousands elsewhere (repeat)

Than thousands elsewhere, than thousands elsewhere

Sermon
‘The Thing We Most Want To Believe’
Judges 16:18-31

The Lord’s Supper

What the Lord Has Done in Me
Hosanna, hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna, hosanna
Jesus died and rose again

Let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Let the blind say I can see
It’s what the Lord has done in me

Into the river I will wade
There my sins are washed away
From the heaven’s mercy stream
Of the Savior’s love for me

Hosanna, hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna, hosanna
Jesus died and rose again

I will rise from waters deep
Into the saving arms of God
I will sing salvation songs
Jesus Christ has set me free

Hosanna, hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna, hosanna
Jesus died and rose again
