Call to Worship
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life.
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

—Psalm 146:1-2 (NIV)

Prayer of Confession
Father and King,
‘Who is a God like you, who pardons sin
And forgives the transgression of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
But delight to show mercy?
Once again, have compassion on us;
Tread our sins underfoot
And hurl all our iniquities
Into the depths of the sea.’
Give us hearts to obey,
And strengthen our resolve
To be a gracious people.
Through Jesus. Amen

Everlasting God
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
(repeat)

Our God, you reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
(repeat)

Our God, you reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

Our God, you reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

Revive Us Again
We praise you, O God
For the Son of your love
For Jesus who died
And is now gone above

We praise you O God
For your spirit of light
Who has shown us our savior
And scattered our night

Hallelujah, thine the glory
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, thine the glory
Revive us again
(repeat)

All glory and praise
To the lamb that was slain
Who has born all our sin
And has cleansed every stain

Revive us again
Fill our hearts with your love
And may our souls be rekindled
With fire from above

Hallelujah, thine the glory
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, thine the glory
Revive us again
(repeat)

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, amen

Hallelujah, thine the glory
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, thine the glory
Revive us again

Profession of Christ
This Lord, our God, the Word of God, the Word made flesh,
The Son of the Father, the Son of God, the Son of man,
Exalted that He might create us,
Humbled that He might recreate us.
Walked among men and suffering what is human.
Let every sigh be a panting after Christ,
Let that most beautiful One,
Who loved even the ugly that He might make them beautiful,
Let Him be longed for.
Hurry to Him alone.

—A Prayer from Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD)

Fairest Lord Jesus
Fairest Lord Jesus
Ruler of all nature
O thou of God and man the Son

Thee will I cherish
Thee will I honor
Thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown

Fair are the meadows
Fairer still the woodlands
Robed in the blooming garb of spring

Jesus is fairer
Jesus is purer
Who makes the woeful heart to sing

Fair is the sunshine
Fairer still the moonlight
And all the twinkling starry host

Jesus shines brighter
Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels heaven can boast

Beautiful Savior
Lord of the nations
Son of God and Son of Man

Glory and honor
Praise, adoration
Now and forevermore be thine

Sermon
“Out of Her Poverty”
Luke 20:45-21:4

Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

‘Catholic’ is the historic word meaning ‘universal’ – it therefore refers to the entirety of believers throughout history.
