Call to Worship — Your Name
As morning dawns and evening fades
You inspire songs of praise
That rise from earth to touch your heart And glorify your name
Your name is a strong and mighty tower
Your name is a shelter like no other
Your name, let the nations sing it louder
For nothing has the power to save
But your name
Jesus in your name we pray
Come and fill our hearts today
Lord, give us strength to live for you
And glorify your name
Your name is a strong and mighty tower
Your name is a shelter like no other
Your name, let the nations sing it louder
For nothing has the power to save but…
Your name is a strong and mighty tower
Your name is a shelter like no other
Your name, let the nations sing it louder
For nothing has the power to save
But your name

Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken
Glorious things of thee are spoken
Zion, city of our God
He, whose word cannot be broken
Formed thee for his own abode
On the Rock of Ages founded
What can shake thy sure repose
With salvation’s walls surrounded
Thou mayst smile at all thy foes
See, the streams of living waters
Springing from eternal love
Well supply thy sons and daughters
And all fear of want remove
Who can faint while such a river
Ever will their thirst assuage
Grace which like the Lord, the giver
Never fails from age to age
Blest inhabitants of Zion
Washed in our Redeemer’s blood
Jesus, whom our souls rely on
Makes us monarchs, priests to God
Us, by his great love, he raises
Rulers over self to reign
And as priests his solemn praises
We for thankful offering bring
Savior, if of Zion’s city
I through grace a member am
Let the world deride or pity
I will glory in thy name
Fading is the worldling’s pleasure
All his boasted pomp and show
Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zion’s children know

O Praise Him
Turn your ear to Heaven
And hear the noise inside
The sound of angels awe
The sound of angels songs
And all this for a King
We could join and sing
All to Christ the King
How constant, how divine
This song of ours will rise
O, how constant how divine
This love of ours will rise, will rise…
O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy
Turn your gaze to Heaven
And raise a joyous noise
The sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones
And all this for a King
Angels join to sing
All for Christ our King
O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy
(repeat)
How infinite and sweet
This love so rescuing
O, how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing…
Hallelujah, hallelujah
He is holy, he is holy
O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy
(repeat)

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations
Gifts — Open Skies
Praise him under open skies,
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
I will dance, I will sing, it could be heavenly
Turn the music loud, lift my voice and shout
From where I am, from where I’ve been
He’s been there with me, he’s built a monument
His very people, so let his people
Sing, sing, sing
And it’s so wonderful just to be here now
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Let us dance, let us sing, it could be heavenly
Turn the music loud and sing
And it’s so wonderful just to be here now
And it’s so wonderful just to be here now
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Lift your voice to heaven, lift up your head and sing
To the one who gave his love, this is our offering
Lift your voice to heaven, lift up your head and sing
To the one who gave his son, here our lives we bring
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King
Praise him under open skies
Everything breathing, praising God
In the company of all who love the King

An Affirmation of God’s Mercy
The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.”
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
We believe in the God who is not remote but who is immersed in the life of the world, having identified with its pain and offering it hope, through the Cross of Jesus.
We believe in the God whose love embraced vulnerability, whose heart is tender to the weak, and whose covenant with His people is unshakeable.
—Genesis 21:17, Psalm 34:18, from the Christian Conference of Asia
Everlasting God
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Our God, you reign forever
Our Hope, our strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Our God, you reign forever
Our Hope, our strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
Wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Children Dismissed for Children’s Church
Sermon
“Because of the Suffering”
Hebrews 2:9-18
Prayer of Confession
Hear our Cry, O Lord.
Be merciful and forgive our many sins.
Enter into the pain and sorrow of our broken community.
Send comfort to those who are grieving.
Break our hearts for those whose lives have been shattered
by senseless violence and death.
Protect us from cold indifference,
and cause the hope of the Gospel,
to be seen and known in your people, the Church.
Until You make all things new.
Through Jesus. Amen.
The Lord’s Supper
Our God Alone
Who formed the mountains
And filled the oceans
Our God alone, our God alone
Who took the dust
And breathed life in us
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Who came from heaven
For our redemption
Our God alone, our God alone
Who died for sin
That we may live
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Who rose again
Death could not win
Our God alone, our God alone
Who is returning, bringing a Kingdom
Our God alone, our God alone
We will worship, we will worship
Our God alone, our God alone
We will worship, we will worship
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
