Welcome & Announcements

Call to Worship
Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds;

Rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.

—based on Psalm 68:4

The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on his unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

His oath, his covenant, his blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

When he shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

The Earth is Yours
Your voice it thunders
The oaks start twisting
The forest sounds with cedars breaking

The waters see you
And start their writhing
From the depths a song is rising

Now it’s rising from the ground…

Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth is yours and singing
Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth is yours
The earth is yours

Your voice it thunders
The ground is shaking
The mighty mountains now are trembling

Creation sees you
And starts composing
The fields and trees, they start rejoicing

Now it’s rising from the ground
Now it’s rising from the ground
Hear us crying out…

Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth is yours and singing
Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth is yours and singing

Holy, holy, holy, holy Lord
The earth is yours
The earth is yours
The earth is yours

Gifts — My Beloved
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)

There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul
There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh, thank you, God, I see the light
(hey! hey!)

Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)

My beloved, bring me awake
Take me up to your resurrection place
My beloved, bring me awake
‘Cause I want to feel your light on my face

There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul
There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh, thank you, God, I see the light
(hey! hey!)

Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)

My beloved take me away
Over Jordan, up out of this place
My beloved, for you I wait
With you here ’til forever face to face

There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul
There’s a sun coming up
In my soul, Lord, in my soul

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh, thank you, God, I see the light
(hey! hey!)

Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)

No more sorrow, no more pain
No more darkness weighing down on me
No longer blind, now I can see
Forever light, forever free, yeah

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh thank you, God…
I see the light
(hey! hey!)

Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)
Whoa – oa – oa (hey! hey!)

A Confession of the Church
What do you believe about the church of Christ?

We believe and confess one single catholic or universal church—
a holy congregation and gathering of true Christian believers.
This holy church is not confined,
bound, or limited to a certain place or certain persons.
But it is spread and dispersed throughout the entire world,
though still joined and united in heart and will,
in one and the same Spirit, by the power of faith.

—from Belgic Confession, Art. 27

All the Poor and Powerless
All the poor and powerless
And all the lost and lonely
And all the thieves will come confess
And know that you are holy
And know that you are holy

And all will sing out hallelujah
And we will cry out hallelujah

All the hearts who are content
And all who feel unworthy
And all who hurt with nothing left
Will know that you are holy

And all will sing out hallelujah
And we will cry out hallelujah

Shout it
Go on and sing it from the mountains
Go on and tell it to the masses
That he is God

Shout it
Go on and sing it from the mountains
Go on and tell it to the masses
That he is God

And all will sing out hallelujah
And we will cry out hallelujah

And all will sing out hallelujah
And we will cry out hallelujah

Sermon
“A Father at the End of the World”
Matthew 6:5-15

Prayer of Confession
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the Kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

The Lord’s Supper

Come As You Are
Come out of sadness from wherever you’ve been
Come broken-hearted, let rescue begin
Come find your mercy, O sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken lift up your face
O wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart

Come as you are

There’s hope for the hopeless
And all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table, come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary, rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t cure

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken lift up your face
O wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart

Come as you are, come as you are
Fall in his arms, come as you are

There’s joy for the morning, O sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken lift up your face
O wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart

Come as you are
