Call to Worship
Hallelujah!
Servants of God, praise,
praise the name of the Lord.
Bless the Lord’s name now and always.
Praise the Lord’s name here and in every place
from east to west.

—Psalm 113:1-3

King of Glory
Lift up your gaze, be lifted up
Tell everyone how great the love
The love come down from heaven’s gate
To kiss the earth with hope and grace

Sing, who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty

Lift up your hands, be lifted up
Let the redeemed declare the love
We bow down at heaven’s gate
To kiss the feet of hope and grace

Sing, who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty

There is one God, he is holy
There is one Lord over everything
There is one King, he is Jesus
King of glory, strong and mighty

You are the King of glory
The Lord, strong and mighty
You are the King of glory
The Lord, strong and mighty

You are the King of glory
The Lord, strong and mighty
You are the King of glory
The Lord, strong and mighty

Cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide his face
I rest on his unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My Anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

When he shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless, to stand before the throne

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

My Eyes Have Seen Holy
Am I unfit for you?
Remember me, the one who turned from you?
I come in rags, tattered by the fall
And all the earth, a witness to my crime

Mercy, weep over me
Let your tears wash me clean
Majesty, be merciful with me
For my eyes have seen holy

Hear my prayer at night
Let the morning find me alive
For I am tired and weakened by the fall,
Let all the earth bear witness to my cry

Mercy, weep over me
Let your tears wash me clean
Majesty, be merciful with me
For my eyes have seen holy

Let the amen sound from heaven as you lift my soul
Let the amen sound from heaven as you lift my soul
Let the angels sound from heaven, holy is the Lord

Mercy, weep over me
Let your tears wash me clean
Majesty, be merciful with me
For my eyes have seen holy

An Affirmation of the Father’s Care
We can be patient in adversity,
thankful in prosperity,
and with a view to the future
we can have a firm confidence
in our faithful God and Father
that no creature shall separate us from his love;
for all creatures are so completely in his hand
that without his will they cannot so much as move.

—from The Heidelberg Catechism, Q&A 28

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
Praise to the Lord
The Almighty, the King of creation
O my soul, praise him
For he is thy health and salvation

All ye who hear
Now to his temple draw near
Praise him in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord
Who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under his wings
Yea, so gently sustaineth

Hast thou not seen
How thy desires e’er have been
Granted in what he ordaineth

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Praise to the Lord
Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely his goodness and mercy
Here daily attend thee

Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do
If with his love he befriend thee

Praise to the Lord
O let all that is in me adore him
All that hath life and breath
Come now with praises before him

Let the ‘amen’
Sound from his people again
Gladly for aye we adore him

Let the ‘amen’
Sound from his people again
Gladly for aye we adore him

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Sermon
“Worthy to Suffer Dishonor”
Acts 5: 33-42

Prayer of Confession
Dear Jesus, Friend to Sinners,
be merciful to us, for this is what we are.
Take the broken offering of our imperfect hearts,
and weak resolves,
and graciously forgive our sins.
Where we are restless, bring peace.
Where our hearts are cold, melt the indifference away.
Free us from self-serving passions.
Open our hearts to the weak and the outcast.
Enable us to love as you have loved us,
and to serve as you have served.
Change us and free us to love,
follow, and obey you, for the sake of this world
that you created to be good.
Amen.

The Lord’s Supper

What a Friend We Have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakess
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior, still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Do your friends despise, forsake you
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In his arms he’ll take and shield you
You will find your solace there

In his arms he’ll take and shield you
You will find your solace there
