Call to Worship
Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion;
shout, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
—Zephaniah 3:14 & 17 (ESV)
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation
Ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith
In his excellent Word
What more can he say
Than to you he hath said
To you, who for refuge
To Jesus have fled
Fear not, I am with thee
O be not dismayed
For I am thy God
And will still give thee aid
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee
And cause thee to stand
Upheld by my righteous
Omnipotent hand
When through the deep waters
I call thee to go
The rivers of woe
Shall not thee overflow
For I will be with thee
Thy troubles to bless
And sanctify to thee
Thy deepest distress
When through fiery trials
Thy pathways shall lie
My grace, all sufficient
Shall be thy supply
The flame shall not hurt thee
I only design
Thy dross to consume
And thy gold to refine
The soul that on Jesus
Hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not
Desert to its foes
That soul, though all hell
Should endeavor to shake
I’ll never, no never
No never forsake
John Rippon’s Selection of Hymns, 1787, alt. Tune, FOUNDATION, American folk hymn
Jesus, Only Jesus
Who has the power to raise the dead
Who can save us from our sin
He is our hope, our righteousness
Jesus, only Jesus
Who can make the blind to see
Who holds the keys that set us free
He paid it all to bring us peace
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
Who can command the highest praise
Who has the name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
You will command the highest praise
Yours is the Name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Gifts — Wonder
God, our Savior
God, our matchless King
God, your glory never faltering
Your mercy, forever
Your mercy, for all
O Lord my God, when in awesome wonder
Sing my soul, your song again
O Lord my God, when I’m lost in wonder
Sing my soul, how great thou art
How great thou art
How great thou art
God, our Promise
God, our coming King
God, our Maker, God of everything
Your justice, forever
Your justice, for all
O Lord my God, when in awesome wonder
Sing my soul, your song again
O Lord my God, when I’m lost in wonder
Sing my soul, how great thou art
How great thou art
How great thou art
Who can comprehend what you’ve done for us
Who can comprehend your unfailing love
Your glory, forever
Our Savior, our God
Oh Lord my God, when in awesome wonder
Sing my soul, your song again
Oh Lord my God, when I’m lost in wonder
Sing my soul, how great thou art
You conquered death, you paid our debt
You rose again
How great thou art
How great thou art
How great thou art
How great thou art

A Confession of the Church
“We believe that God has entrusted the church
with the message of reconciliation
in and through Jesus Christ,
that the church is called to be the salt of the earth
and the light of the world,
that the church is called blessed
because it is a peacemaker,
that the church is witness
both by word and by deed
to the new heaven and the new earth
in which righteousness dwells.”
—from the Belhar Confession
Our God Alone
Who formed the mountains
And filled the oceans
Our God alone, our God alone
Who took the dust
And breathed life in us
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Who came from heaven
For our redemption
Our God alone, our God alone
Who died for sin
That we may live
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Who rose again
Death could not win
Our God alone, our God alone
Who is returning, bringing a Kingdom
Our God alone, our God alone
We will worship, we will worship
Our God alone, our God alone
We will worship, we will worship
Our God alone, our God alone
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Sermon
“Lessons from the Devout Unbelieving”
Acts 10:1-8
Prayer of Confession
Loving Father and God,
have compassion on us.
Be merciful and forgive our many sins.
Cause the care of Jesus, our gentle Shepherd,
to bring healing and restoration where we have erred,
and to those we have wounded.
Settle our restless hearts
and silence our rebellious thoughts.
Freshly pour out your Spirit upon us.
Give us hearts that love your Word, and your World,
with lives that reflect the gospel,
through Jesus. Amen

Thy Mercy
Thy mercy, my God
Is the theme of my song
The joy of my heart
And the boast of my tongue
Thy free grace alone
From the first to the last
Hath won my affection
And bound my soul fast
Without thy sweet mercy
I could not live here
Sin would reduce me
To utter despair
But through thy free goodness
My spirit’s revived
And he that first made me
Still keeps me alive
Thy mercy is more
Than a match for my heart
Which wonders to feel
Its own hardness depart
Dissolved by thy goodness
I fall to the ground
And weep for the praise
Of the mercy I’ve found
Great Father of mercies
Thy goodness I own
In the covenant love
Of thy crucified Son
All praise to the Spirit
Whose whisper divine
Seals mercy and pardon
And righteousness mine
All praise to the Spirit
Whose whisper divine…
Seals mercy and pardon
And righteousness mine
