Call to Worship
Blessed be the Lord!
For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
—Psalm 28:6-7 (ESV)
Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah
Pilgrim through this barren land
I am weak, but thou art mighty
Hold me with thy powerful hand
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven
Feed me till I want no more
Feed me till I want no more
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer
Be thou still my Strength and Shield
Be thou still my Strength and Shield
When I tread the verge of Jordan
Bid my anxious fears subside
Death of deaths, and hell’s destruction
Land me safe on Canaan’s side
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to thee
I will ever give to thee
William Williams; translated by Peter Williams & William Williams, Tune CWM RHONDDA. John Hughes CCLI 241710
Christ Is Risen
Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
But fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to him who showed great love
And bled for us
Freely you’ve bled for us
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bowed to none but heaven’s will
No scheme of hell, no scoffer’s crown
No burden great can hold you down
In strength you reign
Forever let your church proclaim
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
O, death, where is your sting?
O, hell, where is your victory?
O, church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead, he’s alive, he’s alive
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Gifts — Jesus, Rock of Ages
I am not alone, there’s a stone I’m built on
There’s a love that will never let me go
He hears my every cry
He knows how to understand me
He is my one defense day and night
I rest my soul on the Rock of the ages
And my feet stand firm on a sure foundation
All my hope in this salvation
Jesus, Jesus, Rock of ages
Precious cornerstone, the one for all generations
Laid that I would hide myself in you
Through every trial and storm
When all else is sinking
There is none so faithful and so true
I rest my soul on the Rock of the ages
And my feet stand firm on a sure foundation
All my hope in this salvation
Jesus, Jesus, Rock of ages
When my heart is faint my faith is small
Oh hide me, Lord
And when all is well through it all
Oh hide me, Lord
When my heart is faint my faith is small
Oh hide me, Lord
And when all is well through it all
Oh hide me, Lord
I rest my soul on the Rock of the ages
And my feet stand firm on a sure foundation
All my hope in this salvation

An Affirmation of Faith
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
Who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men,
so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
—Hebrews 12:1-3
Jesus, Only Jesus
Who has the power to raise the dead
Who can save us from our sin
He is our hope, our righteousness
Jesus, only Jesus
Who can make the blind to see
Who holds the keys that set us free
He paid it all to bring us peace
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
Who can command the highest praise
Who has the name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
You will command the highest praise
Yours is the Name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus
Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Sermon
“A New Song”
Psalm 40:1-17
Prayer of Confession
Have mercy on us, O God.
Forgive our many sins.
Wash us and make us clean.
Send your Spirit to fill us,
and teach us to wait on you
with willing and obedient hearts.
Grant us grace to trust you as you work,
even when our hearts feel desperate
and our spirits are weak.
Forgive when we rely on our own strength
and refuse to rely on you.
Strengthen us by your Spirit,
and empower us to be the Church
to a world in need of your transforming grace.
Through Jesus. Amen.
The Lord’s Supper
Come to Me
Weary, burdened wanderer
There is rest for thee
At the feet of Jesus
In his love so free
Listen to his message
Words of life, forever blessed
O, thou heavy laden
Come to me, come and rest
There is freedom, taste and see
Hear the call, “Come to me”
Run into his arms of grace
Your burden carried, he will take
Bring him all thy burdens
All thy guilt and sin
Mercy’s door is open
Rise up and enter
There is freedom, taste and see
Hear the call, “Come to me”
Run into his arms of grace
Your burden carried, he will take
Jesus there is waiting
Patiently for thee
Hear him gently calling
“Come, oh, come to me”
“Come, oh, come to me”
“Come, oh, come to me”
There is freedom, taste and see
Hear the call, “Come to me”
Run into his arms of grace
Your burden carried, he will take
There is freedom, taste and see
Hear the call, “Come to me”
Run into his arms of grace
Your burden carried, he will take
He will take…
There is freedom, taste and see
Hear the call, “Come to me”
Run into his arms of grace
Your burden carried, he will take
