Welcome & Announcements

Call to Worship
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!

I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

—Psalm 146:1-2 (ESV)

Cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide his face
I rest on his unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My Anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

When he shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless, to stand before the throne

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm he is Lord
Lord of all

O Praise Him
Turn your ear to Heaven
And hear the noise inside
The sound of angels awe
The sound of angels songs

And all this for a King
We could join and sing
All to Christ the King

How constant, how divine
This song of ours will rise
O, how constant how divine
This love of ours will rise, will rise…

O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy

Turn your gaze to Heaven
And raise a joyous noise
The sound of salvation come
The sound of rescued ones

And all this for a King
Angels join to sing
All for Christ our King

O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy
(repeat)

How infinite and sweet
This love so rescuing
O, how infinitely sweet
This great love that has redeemed
As one, we sing…

Hallelujah, hallelujah
He is holy, he is holy

O praise him, O praise him
He is holy, he is holy
(repeat)

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations

Gifts – Made Alive
Dead in our sin, broken and hopeless
Children of wrath, walking in darkness

But God, rich in mercy, great in love
By grace from the depths you’ve lifted us

We are made alive through you
And for your glory
We lift our voices to you
For you are holy

No longer dead but now revived
From darkness into life
We are made alive
We are made alive

Raised in Christ, seated in the heavens
So all would know that there is redemption

But God, rich in mercy, great in love
By grace from the depths you’ve lifted us

We are made alive through you
And for your glory
We lift our voices to you
For you are holy

No longer dead but now revived
From darkness into life
We are made alive
We are made alive

In you, we have redemption
In you, we have been chosen

In you, we have redemption
In you, we have been chosen

We are made alive through you
And for your glory
We lift our voices to you
For you are holy

No longer dead but now revived
From darkness into life
We are made alive

We are made alive through you
And for your glory
We lift our voices to you
For you are holy

No longer dead but now revived
From darkness into life
We are made alive
We are made alive

A Confession of the Church’s Mission
“We believe that God has entrusted the church
with the message of reconciliation
in and through Jesus Christ,
that the church is called to be the salt of the earth
and the light of the world,
that the church is called blessed
because it is a peacemaker,
that the church is witness both by word and by deed
to the new heaven and the new earth
in which righteousness dwells.”

—from the Belhar Confession

God You Reign
You paint the night
You count the stars
And you call them by name
The skies proclaim, ‘God you reign’

Your glory shines
You teach the sun
When to bring a new day
Creation sings, ‘God you reign’

God you reign
God you reign
Forever and ever
God you reign

You part the seas
You move the mountains
With the words that you say
My song remains, ‘God you reign’

You hold my life
You know my heart
And you call me by name
I live to say, ‘God you reign’

God you reign
God you reign
Forever and ever
God you reign

Hallelujah, hallelu
Hallelujah, hallelu

Hallelujah, hallelu
Hallelujah, hallelu

God you reign
God you reign
Forever and ever
God you reign

God you reign
God you reign
Forever and ever
God you reign

Children Dismissed for Children’s Church

Sermon
“Why Are We Here?”
Acts 13:1-12

Prayer of Confession
Glorious and Everlasting God,
mighty and gracious, tender and kind.
Be merciful and forgive us.
Wash us from within and make us whole.
We sin, yet you receive us as beloved children,
we rebel, yet you do not treat our sins as they deserve.
Fill us with gratitude and wonder at your goodness.
Give us eyes to see your beauty,
and hearts to live as a graced people,
in a world that thirsts for love,
and longs for peace.
Until you make all things new.
Through Jesus. Amen.

The Lord’s Supper

How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made

I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)

And when I think that God
His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in

That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)

When Christ shall come
With shouts of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart

Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
“My God, how great thou art”

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)
