Call to Worship
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—a place near your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
—Psalm 84:1-4
Better Is One Day
How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty
For my soul longs and even faints for you
For here my heart is satisfied
Within your presence
I sing beneath the shadow of your wings
Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts
Than thousands elsewhere
Than thousands elsewhere
One thing I ask and I would seek
To see your beauty
To find you in the place your glory dwells
Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts
Than thousands elsewhere
Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts
Than thousands elsewhere
My heart and flesh cry out
For you the living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen
Come once again to me
I will draw near to you
I will draw near to you
Better is one day
Better is one day
Better is one day
Than thousands elsewhere
Better is one day
Better is one day
Better is one day
Than thousands elsewhere
Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts
Than thousands elsewhere
Than thousands elsewhere
Than thousands elsewhere

He Leadeth Me
He leadeth me, O blessed thought
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me
He leadeth me, he leadeth me
By his own hand he leadeth me
His faithful follower I would be
For by his hand he leadeth me
Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom
By waters still, over troubled sea
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me
He leadeth me, he leadeth me
By his own hand he leadeth me
His faithful follower I would be
For by his hand he leadeth me
Lord, I would place my hand in thine
Nor ever murmur nor repine
Content, whatever lot I see
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me
He leadeth me, he leadeth me
By his own hand he leadeth me
His faithful follower I would be
For by his hand he leadeth me
And when my task on earth is done
When by thy grace the vict’ry’s won
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee
Since God through Jordan leadeth me
He leadeth me, he leadeth me
By his own hand he leadeth me
His faithful follower I would be
For by his hand he leadeth me

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations
Gifts — My Victory
You came for criminals and ev’ry Pharisee
You came for hypocrites, even one like me
You carried sin and shame, the guilt of ev’ry man
The weight of all I’ve done nailed into your hands
Oh, your love bled for me
Oh, your blood in crimson streams
Oh, your death is Hell’s defeat
A cross meant to kill is my victory
Oh, your amazing grace, I’ve seen and tasted it
It’s running through my veins, I can’t escape its grip
In you my soul is safe, you cover ev’rything
Oh, your love bled for me
Oh, your blood in crimson streams
Oh, your death is Hell’s defeat
A cross meant to kill is my victory
Behold the Lamb of God
Who takes away our sin, who takes away our sin
The holy Lamb of God
Makes us alive again, makes us alive again
Behold the Lamb of God
Who takes away our sin, who takes away our sin
The holy Lamb of God
Makes us alive again, makes us alive again
Oh, your love bled for me
Oh, your blood in crimson streams
Oh, your death is Hell’s defeat
A cross meant to kill is my victory
Oh, a cross meant to kill is my victory

Great and Mighty King
Your love has rescued us
The cross delivered all our hearts from fear
Our hope is here
You came to make a way
Jesus, you came to raise the dead to life
Our song will rise
O great and mighty King, you reign in majesty
Before your throne we sing holy, holy
O great and mighty King, for all eternity
We bow with heaven and sing holy, holy
What do we have to bring
This is our offering, our hearts before
The risen Lord
All power in your name
Jesus, the One who saves, be lifted high
Our song will rise
O great and mighty King, you reign in majesty
Before your throne we sing holy, holy
O great and mighty King, for all eternity
We bow with heaven and sing holy, holy
Your glory fills this place
We shout unending praise
Forever hallelujah
Forever hallelujah
Your glory fills this place
We shout unending praise
Forever hallelujah
Forever hallelujah
Your glory fills this place
We shout unending praise
Forever hallelujah
Forever hallelujah
Your glory fills this place
We shout unending praise
Forever hallelujah
Forever hallelujah
O great and mighty King, you reign in majesty
Before your throne we sing holy, holy
O great and mighty King, for all eternity
We bow with heaven and sing holy, holy

Sermon
“Tender Strength”
Psalm 37:8-11
Prayer of Confession
Father in Heaven,
tender and loving, mighty and true.
From everlasting to everlasting,
you are God, and in Jesus, we are yours.
Forgive our sins. They are many.
We are in need of cleansing grace,
and the renewing power of your Spirit.
Find us where we hide,
and expose where we are weak.
Break through our barriers of self,
and fear and false righteousness.
Heal our hurts, calm our fears,
and relieve our sorrows.
Make us a loving presence
in this world you created to be good,
until you make all things new.
Through Jesus. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
—1 John 1:9:
The Lord’s Supper
Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us
Savior, like a shepherd lead us
Much we need thy tender care
In thy pleasant pastures feed us
For our use thy folds prepare
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought, thine we are
(repeat)
We are thine, thou dost befriend us
Be the guardian of our way
Keep thy flock, from sin defend us
Seek us when we go astray
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Hear, O hear us when we pray
(repeat)
Thou hast promised to receive us
Poor and sinful though we be
Thou hast mercy to relieve us
Grace to cleanse and power to free
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
We will early turn to thee
(repeat)
Early let us seek thy favor
Early let us do thy will
Blessed Lord and Savior
With thy love our bosoms fill
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus
Thou hast loved us, love us still
(repeat)
