Call to Worship
The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
— Exodus 15:2
Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken
Glorious things of thee are spoken
Zion, city of our God
He, whose word cannot be broken
Formed thee for his own abode
On the Rock of Ages founded
What can shake thy sure repose
With salvation’s walls surrounded
Thou mayst smile at all thy foes
See, the streams of living waters
Springing from eternal love
Well supply thy sons and daughters
And all fear of want remove
Who can faint while such a river
Ever will their thirst assuage
Grace which like the Lord, the giver
Never fails from age to age
Blest inhabitants of Zion
Washed in our Redeemer’s blood
Jesus, whom our souls rely on
Makes us monarchs, priests to God
Us, by his great love, he raises
Rulers over self to reign
And as priests his solemn praises
We for thankful offering bring
Savior, if of Zion’s city
I through grace a member am
Let the world deride or pity
I will glory in thy name
Fading is the worldling’s pleasure
All his boasted pomp and show
Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zion’s children know

This Is Amazing Grace
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
Who leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That you would take my place
That you would bear my cross
You laid down your life
That I would be set free
O, Jesus I sing for all that you’ve done for me
Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That you would take my place
That you would bear my cross
You laid down your life
That I would be set free
O, Jesus I sing for all that you’ve done for me
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That you would take my place
That you would bear my cross
You laid down your life
That I would be set free
O, Jesus I sing for all that you’ve done for me

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations
Gifts – Made Alive
I once was dead in sin
alone and hopeless
A child of wrath I walked
condemned in darkness
But your mercy brought new life
and in your love and kindness
Raised me up with Christ
and made me righteous
You have brought me back with the riches of
Your amazing grace and relentless love
I’m made alive forever with you
life forever
By your grace I’m saved
by your grace I’m saved
Lord you are the light
that broke the darkness
You satisfy my soul
when I am heartless
If ever I forget
my true identity
Show me who I am
and help me to believe
You have brought me back with the riches of
Your amazing grace and relentless love
I’m made alive forever with you
life forever
By your grace I’m saved
by your grace I’m saved
My sin has been erased
I’ll never be the same
My sin has been erased
I’ll never be the same
You have brought me back with the riches of
Your amazing grace and relentless love
I’m made alive forever with you
life forever
By your grace I’m saved
You have brought me back with the riches of Your amazing grace and relentless love
I’m made alive forever with you
life forever
By your grace I’m saved
by your grace I’m saved

10,000 Reasons
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
You’re rich in love
And you’re slow to anger
Your name is great
And your heart is kind
For all your goodness
I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near
And my time has come
Still my soul will sing
Your praise unending
Ten thousand years
And then forevermore
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Sermon
“The Safe House
The Church is…”
1 Samuel 22:1-5
Prayer of Confession
Father, this morning we confess together our need for you.
When life becomes difficult and painful we become afraid.
And it is out of this fear that we seek to find safety, security and shelter.
Father we confess that we seek safety, security and shelter
in places other than you.
In money, relationships, control, comfort and approval from others.
We fail to trust.
We fail to love.
We fail to fear you before all else.
As your children, we have forgotten the safety and rest only you can provide.
Have mercy on us and forgive us, turn our hearts toward you.
Through Jesus. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
— Psalm 32:1-2
The Lord’s Supper
Be Thou My Vision
Be thou my vision
O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me
Save that thou art
Thou my best thought
By day or by night
Waking or sleeping
Thy presence my light
Be thou my wisdom
And thou my true word
I ever with thee
And thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father
I thy true son
Thou in me dwelling
And I with thee one
Riches I heed not
Nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance
Now and always
Thou and thou only
First in my heart
High King of heaven
My treasure thou art
High King of heaven
My victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys
O bright heav’ns Son
Heart of my own heart
Whatever befall
Still be my vision
O ruler of all
