Welcome & Announcements

Call to Worship
The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!

The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.

Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!

Exalt the Lord our God;
worship at his footstool!
Holy is he!

—Psalm 99:1-3 & 5

Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown him with many crowns
The Lamb upon his throne
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns All music but its own

Awake, my soul, and sing
Of him who died for thee
And hail him as thy matchless King Through all eternity

Crown him the Lord of love
Behold his hands and side
Rich wounds, yet visible above
In beauty glorified

All hail, Redeemer, hail
For thou hast died for me
Thy praise and glory shall not fail Throughout eternity

Crown him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o’er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those he came to save

His glories now we sing
Who died, and rose on high
Who died, eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die

Rejoice
Come and stand before your Maker
Full of wonder, full of fear
Come behold his power and glory
Yet with confidence draw near

For the one who holds the heavens
And commands the stars above
Is the God who bends to bless us
With an unrelenting love

Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise

Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice

We are children of the promise
The beloved of the Lord
Won with everlasting kindness
Bought with sacrificial blood

Bringing reconciliation
To a world that longs to know
The affections of a Father
Who will never let them go

Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise

Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice

All our sickness, all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill
He has walked this path before us
He is walking with us still

Turning tragedy to triumph
Turning agony to praise
There is blessing in the battle
So take heart and stand amazed

Rejoice!
When you cry to him
He hears your voice
He will wipe away your tears

Rejoice!
In the midst of suffering
He will help you sing…

Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise

Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations

Gifts — Love is Here
Come to the water, you who thirst
And you’ll thirst no more

Come to the Father, you who work
And you’ll work no more

And all you who labor in vain
And to the broken and shamed

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from his hands, from his brow

Love is near
It satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from his side

Come to the Treasure, you who search
And you’ll search no more

Come to the Lover, you who want
And you’ll want no more

And all you who labor in vain
And to the broken and shamed

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from his hands, from his brow

Love is near
It satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from his side

And to the bruised and fallen
Captives, bound and broken hearted
He is the Lord, he is the Lord

By his stripes he’s paid our ransom
From his wounds we drink salvation
He is the Lord, he is the Lord

Love is here
Love is now
Love is pouring from his hands, from his brow

Love is near
It satisfies
Streams of mercy flowing from his side

Jesus, Only Jesus
Who has the power to raise the dead
Who can save us from our sin
He is our hope, our righteousness
Jesus, only Jesus

Who can make the blind to see
Who holds the keys that set us free
He paid it all to bring us peace
Jesus, only Jesus

Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Who can command the highest praise
Who has the name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus

Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

You will command the highest praise
Yours is the Name above all names
You stand alone, I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus
Jesus, only Jesus

Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Holy King, Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
I join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Praise to the Lord
Praise to the Lord
The Almighty, the King of creation
O my soul praise him
For he is thy health and salvation

All ye who hear
Now to his temple draw near
Praise him in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord
Who hath fearfully, wondrously, made thee
Health hath vouchsafed
And when heedlessly failing, hath stayed thee

What need or grief
Ever hath failed of relief
Wings of his mercy did shade thee

Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him

Praise to the Lord
Who, when tempests their warfare are waging
Who, when the elements
Madly around thee are raging

Biddeth them cease
Turneth their fury to peace
Whirlwinds and waters assuaging

Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him

Praise to the Lord
O let all that is in me adore him
All that hath life and breath
Come now with praises before him

Let the ‘amen’
Sound from his people again
Gladly for aye we adore him

Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him, praise him
Praise him

Sermon
“Blessed are the Enemies – David & Goliath”
1 Samuel 24:1-16

Prayer of Confession
Father in Heaven,
you love us, and in your love,
through the sending of your son Jesus,
you have entered our brokenness,
you felt the sting of betrayal,
you knew the isolation of loneliness,
you experienced the wounding of injustice.
And unlike us you remained without sin.

Father we confess that we
cannot love,
cannot forgive,
cannot obey,
cannot sacrifice,
without the power of your Holy Spirit.
Forgive us for not only thinking we can,
but for endeavoring to do so in our own strength.

Turn our hearts toward you,
pour your Spirit upon us,
and help us live lives that reflect your gospel
in every thought & deed.

Assurance of Pardon
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.

— Exodus 34:6-7

The Lord’s Supper

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father
And to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost
As it was in the beginning
Is now and ever shall be
World without end
Amen, amen

2nd century tr., Henry W. Greatorex, 1851

Benediction
