Prayer of Confession
Gracious God,
Jesus taught us to love you
with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength;
but we confess that we have loved you superficially.
Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves;
but we have loved our neighbors selectively, partially, and unequally.
Jesus taught us to trust you completely;
but we still doubt.
You have taught us all these things,
yet we have failed to learn them.
Have mercy on us and forgive us.
Wash us clean in Jesus.
We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
