Call to Worship
I love you, Lord, my strength.
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing the praises of your name.
—based on Psalm 18
I Love You Lord
I love you, Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship you
O my soul rejoice
Take joy, my King
In what you hear
May it be a sweet, sweet sound
In your ear

Rejoice
Come and stand before your Maker
Full of wonder, full of fear
Come behold his power and glory
Yet with confidence draw near
For the one who holds the heavens
And commands the stars above
Is the God who bends to bless us
With an unrelenting love
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice
We are children of the promise
The beloved of the Lord
Won with everlasting kindness
Bought with sacrificial blood
Bringing reconciliation
To a world that longs to know
The affections of a Father
Who will never let them go
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice
All our sickness, all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill
He has walked this path before us
He is walking with us still
Turning tragedy to triumph
Turning agony to praise
There is blessing in the battle
So take heart and stand amazed
Rejoice!
When you cry to him
He hears your voice
He will wipe away your tears
Rejoice!
In the midst of suffering
He will help you sing…
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands
And raise your voice
He is worthy of all praise
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice

And Can It Be
And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior’s blood
Died he for me who caused his pain
For me who him to death pursued
Amazing love! How can it be
That thou, my God, should die for me
He left his Father’s throne above
So free, so infinite his grace
Emptied himself of all but love
And bled for Adam’s helpless race
’Tis mercy all, immense and free
For O my God, it found out me
Amazing love! How can it be
That thou, my God, should die for me
(repeat)
Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light
My chains fell off, my heart was free
I rose, went forth, and followed thee
Amazing love! How can it be
That thou, my God, should die for me
(repeat)
No condemnation now I dread
Jesus, and all in him, is mine
Alive in him, my living head
And clothed in righteousness divine
Bold I approach the eternal throne
And claim the crown, through Christ my own
Amazing love! How can it be
That thou, my God, should die for me
(repeat)
Amazing love! How can it be
That thou, my God, should die for me
(repeat)

Prayer for the People, the City, and the Nations
Gifts — From All That Dwell
From all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator’s praise arise
Let the Redeemer’s name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue
Eternal are your mercies, Lord
Eternal truth attends your word
You praise will sound from shore to shore
Till suns rise and set no more
All praise be to the Father
For he is ever faithful
We sing hallelujah
Hallelujah
In every land begin the song
To every land the strains belong
In cheerful sounds all voices raise
And fill the world with loudest praise
All praise be to the Father
For he is ever faithful
We sing hallelujah
Hallelujah
All praise be to the Father
For he is ever faithful
We sing hallelujah
Hallelujah

Great Are You Lord
You give life, you are love,
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope
You restore ev’ry heart that is broken
And great are you Lord
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to you only
You give life, you are love,
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope
You restore ev’ry heart that is broken
And great are you Lord
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to you only
And all the earth will shout your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are you Lord
And all the earth will shout your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are you Lord
And all the earth will shout your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are you Lord
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to you only
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to you only

Sermon
“The One Thing”
Revelation 2:1-7
Prayer of Confession
Father, our lives are often a mixture of good and bad.
We are quick to take credit for the good,
while trying to hide or explain away the bad.
Today, we acknowledge
that any good in us comes only from you;
and we confess that our sin is worse than we’d like to admit.
We don’t love others consistently.
We justify ourselves and condemn those around us–
our friends, family, co-workers, leaders,
and even society as a whole.
We forget who we are before you: beloved sons and daughters.
Lord, as you have promised,
have mercy, forgive, and help us return to you.
Through Jesus. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Our assurance of forgiveness is found in this: “We have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us. And the life we live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us.

The Lord’s Supper
How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)
And when I think that God
His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)
When Christ shall come
With shouts of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
“My God, how great thou art”
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
(repeat)
